The upside-down kingdom

Jesus opens the Sermon on the Mount by naming as blessed the very people the world overlooks. The Beatitudes are not a ladder to climb - they are a portrait of the community Jesus is forming.

The kingdom of God belongs to the , not to the self-sufficient.
